The time perceived by the birds.
Many times when I see the birds he asked me how old they are, sometimes it is easy to interpret according to their plumage or the lack of ossification of the tips of the beak, however when we see a bird already in adulthood, it is almost uncertain to guess what age has.
This in turn makes me reflect on the comparison of age (biological) of the bird with respect to a human being. I mean concretely about how much time passes for a human and how much time passes for a bird. That time (psychological) is very relative because while for us humans is little, for them (the birds) it is long, because at that time their cells are constantly preparing the cycles that must complete how the embryonic development, the feathering, the emancipation, the zeal, the putting, the raising and inevitably the natural death. Or what is the same in us humans: embryonic development, childhood, puberty, leaving home to find a partner, having children, raise those children and then die.
In a bird this happens in a short chronological time (not in "their" psychological time), because for the bird it is normal to be about 20 to 25 days in an egg (in humans from 7 to 9 months in the womb), then the stage of the first feathering (childhood) follows the next spring nuptial replume (he would be a teenager in less than a year), then the search for a partner that is the motive of emancipation (when one leaves the house of one's parents looking for a job to become independent and get a partner), then comes the baby (in humans when we must teach our children to live in society) and finally comes the progressive cell death (when humans are old and begin to fail organs). Finally, this process lasts an average of 10 years in a bird and in 75 years in humans. These figures in years I take as an average, since not all birds live the same time (parrots live longer than a canary and humans from Finland live longer than humans in Argentina because of their standard of living). According to my calculations 10 years of a bird would be about 3,650 days or what is the same 87,600 hours and in a human 75 years would be 25,550 days or what is the same 613,200 hours. That is to say that each day that passes for a human, for them (the birds) is equivalent to 3.2 days. Or if we want to have a more precise idea, one hour for a human is like 3 hours with 12 psychological minutes for a bird. That is why the next time you share time with a bird, remember that your time is more valuable than yours, since there is no time to lose and that is why we must share the parallel biological life that we lead.
